Climate Innovation Summit 2017

Climate-KIC’s Climate Innovation Summit is Europe’s leading event connecting professionals to share best practice and create the opportunities to scale up the solutions that accelerate climate action.

This year’s summit is endorsed by the Fijian COP23 Presidency, and will take place under the patronage of the Italian Ministry for Environment and the City of Milan, with the C40 cities network as organising partner.

Cities, levers of change

Cities are where more than half of the global population live today, consuming two-thirds of the world’s energy, accounting for over 70 per cent of global CO2 emissions.

Cities are where the battle against climate change will be lost or won. But, cities are increasingly taking the lead. With local roots, yet connections to a global stage, cities are the source of demand and ideas—the potential critical mass that can tip the balance towards circularity, deep decarbonisation and ecological health.

Under the theme “Cities, Levers of Change”, the 2017 Climate Innovation Summit will bring together urban decision makers, policymakers, academics, researchers, entrepreneurs and business leaders to co-create the blueprints for an inclusive, zero-carbon society.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Gian Luca Galletti, Minister of the Environment, Italy
  • Carlo Carraro, President Emeritus, University of Venice
  • Dr. Kirsten Dunlop, CEO Climate-KIC
  • Anna Scavuzzo, Deputy Mayor, City of Milan
  • Marc Watts, Executive Director, C40 Cities
