Lao PDR has signi cant hydropower resources, with an estimated technically exploitable capacity of 18,000 MW, among which just over 3,500 MW of the country’s hydropower potential had been commissioned, which grants foreign investors great opportunities for further development of the country’s hydropower potentials.
Neighbouring energy hungry countries like Thailand, China and Vietnam, Laos is ideally located for development of export oriented power projects, which boost the rapid development of interconnectivity within the region, thus providing opportunities for concerned players in the market.
Apart from hydropower and thermal power , renewable energies are also attracting FDIs into the country. The 3-day 4th GMS (Laos) Power Summit & Expo 2016 will address key issues and opportunities for power sector development in the country and within the region.
