Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2025: Indonesia emerges as a regional gravity centre for green investment

Jakarta, October 2025 – As sustainability takes centre stage on the global agenda, Indonesia is asserting itself as a new regional hub for green investment through the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2025, set to take place on October 10–11 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). Under the theme “Investing for A Resilient, Sustainable and Prosperous World,” the third edition of ISF marks a definitive transition from conversation to action, from strategy to implementation.

Since its inaugural edition in 2023, ISF has evolved into a dynamic platform for connecting governments, private sectors, international institutions, and thought leaders to accelerate sustainable investments across Indonesia and the wider Asia-Pacific region. Last year’s edition attracted more than 11,000 participants from 53 countries and facilitated 12 strategic memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

This year, the forum will be opened by President Prabowo Subianto, affirming Indonesia’s strong commitment to leading a low-carbon, inclusive economic future. “ISF 2025 is not just a discussion forum, but a stage for Indonesia to showcase its global leadership in downstream industry, renewable energy, and the green economy. It is also a strategic opportunity to present our investment-ready projects and form concrete partnerships that generate real impact for future generations,” said Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry.

A centrepiece of ISF 2025 is the Investment Project Ready to Offer (IPRO) initiative, a curated portfolio of viable, sustainability-aligned projects across renewable energy, the bioeconomy, climate-smart agriculture, and marine-based industries. These projects have been thoroughly prepared to attract responsible green investment and demonstrate real on-the-ground potential.

Indonesia’s strong green investment fundamentals are underpinned by over 3,700 gigawatts of renewable energy potential, one of the largest in the world. Flagship projects such as the Cirata floating solar power plant and the development of a green hydrogen ecosystem are already signalling Indonesia’s readiness to contribute to the global energy transition. Policy support continues to grow, including the newly issued Ministerial Regulation No. 5/2025, designed to make renewable energy investment more attractive and aligned with the country’s long-term electricity plan, RUPTL 2025–2034.

“Infrastructure and sustainability must go hand in hand,” said Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development. “Green technology and sustainable approaches are not only about environmental protection—they are powerful engines for creating an inclusive, competitive new economy. We are ready to ensure ISF 2025 delivers real impact beyond the forum itself.”

ISF 2025 will bring together an influential mix of national and international leaders, including Raja Juli Antoni, Retno Marsudi, Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Anindya Bakrie, and high-level representatives from global institutions and corporations such as Peter Bakker (President & CEO, World Business Council for Sustainable Development) and Helge Muenkel (Chief Sustainability Officer, DBS). These leaders will contribute to high-level plenary sessions, thematic dialogues, investment roundtables, and knowledge-sharing panels covering key topics such as ESG implementation, blended finance, climate AI, and South-South technology collaboration.

“Cross-sector collaboration at ISF is key to accelerating green financing, sustainable technology adoption, and human capital development. We want to ensure the green transition creates opportunities for SMEs, generates jobs, and increases Indonesia’s global competitiveness,” said Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).

ISF also plays a crucial role in connecting global agendas—such as COP, SDGs, and ESG frameworks—with actionable, localised solutions in Indonesia. Its guiding messages, “Our Dialogue Today, Our Future Together” and “Planting Together, Growing Forever”, reflect ISF’s core belief in trust, collaboration, and long-term environmental and economic stewardship.

Amid growing climate challenges and shifting geopolitical dynamics, Indonesia is not only making strides domestically—it is providing a global platform for scalable, inclusive, and innovative solutions. ISF 2025 reinforces that sustainability is no longer a side agenda; it is the foundation for a secure, equitable, and prosperous global future.
