Climate change could leave India high and dry

The monsoon seasons on which India depends to provide much of its water are severly threatened by climate change, according to a new study from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.  While warmer temperatures increase the amount of water evaporated into the air, they also disrupt the air flows that bring rain for India’s staple crops. The study said that the normally stable monsoons could fail about every five years if global warming reaches 4.6 degrees Celcius by 2020.
