The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a not-for-profit sustainable certification standard for the palm oil trade, has appointed Beverley Postma as chief executive officer-designate.

Postma will join after a stint with sustainable business consultancy GreenOcean Group, and brings with her 20 years of experience in the food industry. She was previously founder and executive director of food and beverage industry body Food Industry Asia (FIA), and chief executive of nutrition non-profit HarvestPlus.
In a statement, Postma acknowledged that her new job is “not without challenges”, but said the approach of the RSPO—in bringing different stakeholder groups with varied interests together—is “the best way to build effective partnerships and solve the world’s most difficult problems.”
Postma, who is expected to take the reins of RSPO in May, replaces Darrel Webber, who stepped down in January after eight years at the helm of the organisation. Webber moved to research group Earth Innovation Institute, where he is managing director of global forest strategies.
RSPO’s COO Bakhtiar Talhah has been interim CEO during the search for a permanent replacement for Webber.
