Manager, sustainability

Summary

The Sustainability Manager for FFM is responsible for leading and coordinating sustainability initiatives to enhance environmental performance, social responsibility, and ethical practices across the organisation’s operations. This role is critical in driving sustainable business practices, fostering stakeholder engagement, and ensuring compliance with relevant local regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Sustainability strategy development – spearhead the formulation and execution of comprehensive sustainability strategy, identify key sustainability priorities, goals, and objectives in alignment with industry best practices and stakeholder expectations.
  • Stakeholder engagement - engage with internal stakeholders, including senior management, and employees to promote a culture of sustainability and social responsibility. Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to collaborate on sustainability initiatives and address stakeholder concerns.
  • Environmental management - lead environmental management programs to minimise environmental footprint, including reducing GHG emissions, waste reduction, improving energy efficiency and increasing renewable energy source. Act as a liaison, ensuring effective communication and delivery of environmental-related initiatives across business divisions.
  • Regulatory compliance and reporting - stay informed about relevant environmental regulations, industry standards, and sustainability reporting requirements applicable to the business. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental laws and regulations, as well as industry-specific standards and certifications. Oversee the collation and analysis of key sustainability data, focusing on material environmental and governance disclosures. Prepare and submit sustainability reports, disclosures, and communications for internal and external stakeholders, including board meeting sustainability reports and group sustainability reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation - monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability programs and initiatives, using key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track progress. Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in sustainability performance, driving initiatives to enhance environmental stewardship and social impact.
  • Undertake any other assignments as may be assigned from time to time.

Education and qualification

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Environmental Management, Engineering are highly desired

Relevant experience and years of service

Minimum 5 years of working experience in corporate sustainability, showcasing success in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives, preferably in the agribusiness or FMCG industry.

Technical skills and professional knowledge

Strong understanding of sustainability principles and sustainable practices. Knowledge and experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, ISO 50001, GHG Protocol and product carbon footprint is a plus.

Knowledge of sustainability issues and trends, including climate change and circular economy principles.

Analytical mindset with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret data for informed decision-making and measure sustainability performance.

Demonstrate hands-on experience in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives, covering environmental management, social responsibility, and governance programs.

Competencies

Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills.

Demonstrated leadership, project management, and change management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organisational change towards sustainability goals.
