After a year and a half with ride-hailing firm Grab, Pek Hai Lin has moved on to join the Singapore Institute of Technology.

Pek has been appointed senior manager, sustainability (estates) at SIT, a university that offers industry-focused degree programmes.
Her role will involve developing and coordinating sustainability priorities and strategies for SIT, which is building a campus in northeastern Singapore with sustainability as a key theme.
The move marks a return to the education sector for Pek, who was a teacher before joining civic society organisation Zero Waste SG in 2017. Pek was executive director of the anti-waste non-profit before moving to the private sector to join Grab in 2021.
“I have been focusing on circular economy-related work since I started committing to this journey five to six years ago,” she wrote in a post on LinkedIn. “[I am] grateful for the opportunity to branch out to other areas of sustainability this time round,” said Pek about her new role at SIT, which will include social and governance work, and go beyond environmental sustainability.
At Grab, Pek was senior specialist, environmental sustainability, helping the firm with its sustainability ambitions including reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and plastic footprint through its deliveries.
