The global market for e-bikes is surging. These bicycles, usually equipped with pedals and an electric motor assist, are popular with consumers and commuters and are becoming part of local business delivery systems. The trend could significantly reduce particulate pollution and smog, as well as cut carbon emissions in the transportation sector.
Alexandra Soezer has been appointed the director of Qatar-based Climate Action Centre of Excellence, which was launched at last year's COP28 summit where parties failed to reach a consensus on the key rules for global carbon credit trade.
It has been more than one year since the gavel came down at the last UN biodiversity summit, where almost every country in the world agreed on a plan to protect nature.
To access the new loss and damage fund set up at COP28, poorer countries need support to collect better data on climate disasters.
