Lynas to meet opposition to discuss project

Fuziah Salleh (PKR-Kuantan) has accepted Australian Lynas-Corp’s invitation to have a dialogue over its rare earth project in Pahang.

She said Lynas executive chairman Nicholas Curtis had extended an invitation to engage with a face-to-face meeting in order to engage with the issue constructively on Tuesday.

“I have replied a letter accepting their offer to engage in a meaningful dialogue as a response to be more transparent with the public,” she told a press conference at the Parliament lobby Wednesday.

Fuziah, who is PKR vice-president, said in order to be more transparent she requested that the meeting be open to the public including to the members of the media.

“During the dialogue, I also will provide evidence to prove that the Lynas project would be detrimental to public health and would damage the environment,” she said.

She had recommended that the meeting be on July 1.
