Sunlabob to implement rooftop solar at World Bank office in Laos

Sunlabob Renewable Energy Ltd., the venture-backed company specializing in renewable energy and clean water solutions, recently finalized a contract to implement a 40 kWp building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solar system on the roof of the new World Bank office in Vientiane.

“Sunlabob is pleased to see the increased interest for grid-connected solar power in Laos,” said Andy Schroeter, CEO, Sunlabob. “After more than 15 years of promoting solar in remote areas, we are proud to also be a part of the emergence of solar power in grid-connected areas of Laos.”

In addition to installation, Sunlabob is supplying and integrating the associated components.

The new World Bank facility, located in Xieng Ngeun Village, Chanthabouly District in Vientiane, will house about 100 staff.

According to the World Bank Group, the new building will “feature green concepts in its design using solar energy system, rainwater harvesting, natural day lighting, sewage treatment plant and use of sustainable materials.”

The building is slotted to be inaugurated in early 2016.

Also in Vientiane, Sunlabob is currently implementing an 18 kWp roof-mounted grid-connected solar system at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) office. The project is scheduled to be completed by end-2015.

Sunlabob led the implementation of the country’s first grid-connected solar system in 2010 at the German Embassy in Vientiane.
