Tough competition may be affecting solar panel quality

Poor quality solar panels are on the rise as the industry struggles to reduce costs to survive. According to business insiders, recent evidence shows tested and monitored solar panels are poorly made. Data from SolarBuyer, a group that conducts factory checks on behalf of investors, shows an average defect rate of 8.8 per cent for solar panels. The defects usually range from 5.5 per cent to 22 per cent.  Industry members say some of the companies may now be focusing on cash flows and not quality.
