A nature-positive approach to agriculture, and specifically palm oil plantations, can marry mandates with production.
Asia is the dominant producer and buyer of palm oil, so production standards in Indonesia and Malaysia and the policies of palm buyers in the region will determine the next stage of its sustainability journey.
With smoke haze posing a significant pollution problem for Southeast Asia, a victim-pays approach could result in cleaner air for all.
