COP30 agreed to triple adaptation finance, but the fashion industry needs adaptation measures now.
Robust legal frameworks, backed by effective enforcement, can create the conditions for stable and rights-respecting mining. That means safeguarding Indigenous rights, protecting water resources and ensuring independent, participatory, and transparent impact assessments.
The fashion industry business will not come from diplomacy or presidential handshakes, but from trust-based relationships built on fair purchasing practices, sustainability concerns, and other ethical commitments.
Coalbed methane is an underappreciated problem of global steel production. While cutting methane emissions in the steel supply chain will not produce green steel overnight, it could reduce the sector’s emissions by the equivalent of a billion tons of carbon annually, and at little cost.
