US claims ‘enormous’ emissions cuts

The US said it has made “enormous” effort on the climate change front from reduced emissions on its investments on “fracking” for shale gas and its measures on fuel efficiency in transport. US senior climate negotiator Jonathan Pershing defended the US’ record on fighting climate change and said that the industrialised country will still be doing more to avoid damages associated with a warming world. The claim was made at the ongoing UN climate conference in Doha, Qatar where 200 governments are now gathered in a bid to sign a climate agreement.
