Nuclear shutdown precedes South Korean winter

South Korea has shut two nuclear reactors due to safety concerns over the use of unauthorized parts. A government minister said the parts were “non-core” parts and did not pose a danger, but that the shutdown would cause severe power shortages over the winter months while safety inspections were carried out.
