Green Star picked up pace in 2014

The Green Building Council of Australia certified 150 Green Star projects this year, up from 105 in 2013, with Lend Lease and Frasers-Australand leading the charge.

GBCA chief executive Roomily Madew said the 43 per cent increase in ratings on 2013 was a sign that sustainability in the built environment wasn’t going anywhere.

“What’s more, 115 new Green Star projects were registered over the course of 2014, which is an encouraging sign for 2015,” Ms Madew said.

Lend Lease topped the Green Star development chart, as it did in 2013, with 16 Green Star projects on the go and eight projects certified in 2014, including Library at the Dock in Melbourne and the T2 Tower at Barangaroo.

“Lend Lease now has 747,182 square metres of Green Star certified space, with a further 608,825 square metres registered and three Green Star – Communities projects, Alkimos, Waterbank and Barangaroo South,” Ms Madew said.

Fraser-Australand had the most projects registered in 2014, with 12 in the pipeline.
