Fundamentals of Sustainability

ESG skills and strategies for public officers

Overview

A robust understanding of sustainability policies and development is mission-critical for the government today in the realisation of the Singapore Green Plan 2030. Responding to climate change and driving sustainable economic growth is a multifaceted challenge.

Led by two well-established and experienced sustainability advisors – Jessica Cheam and Junice Yeo – Fundamentals of Sustainability (FSP) is designed to equip government employees with the knowledge and understanding of basic sustainability and ESG concepts needed to advance Singapore’s sustainability agenda, including net zero emissions, circularity, materiality, sustainability reporting and strategy, managing sustainability risks and opportunities, and ESG management.

Since its launch in late-2023, FSP has trained over 800 government employees, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of sustainable development and key policy trends from a regional and Singapore-specific lens. The curriculum delves into critical industry sectors, focusing on Singapore’s Green Plan and national strategy for sustainability capacity-building. Participants engage in interactive group activities that reference real Asian case studies, allowing them to apply their learning to practical scenarios and develop collaborative solutions.
