The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has appointed Vincent de Paz as its new country manager for the Philippines.

With almost two decades of experience in energy, finance, and sustainability, De Paz will spearhead the international independent standards organisation’s bid to help local companies develop sustainability reports and articulate their management approaches for their environmental and social impacts.

De Paz comes into his role as Philippine corporate regulator Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) prepares the country’s listed firms for mandatory sustainability reporting by 2026, with many companies already drawing up reports aligned with GRI and other international frameworks.

Bank of the Philippine Islands, BDO Unibank and Manila Water Company Inc are among the leading Manila-based firms already using the GRI framework for reporting their environmental, social and governance (ESG) data.

De Paz succeeds Katreena Pillejera, who served as GRI’s Philippine country manager from January 2021 to September 2025.

He previously worked for finance company MSCI Inc as vice president of ESG and climate projects, where he developed solutions and projects for the growth of the company’s climate business.

He brings close to 20 years of experience in sustainability to the role, including having been the environment and sustainability manager at ACEN, the energy subsidiary of the Ayala Group, senior sustainability manager at business process outsourcing firm ADEC Innovations, and environmental and permits superintendent at French industrial company La Farge.

De Paz will continue his work as an adjunct faculty member at the Asian Institute of Management and part-time lecturer for sustainability, international business, and innovation subjects at the De La Salle University where he has been teaching business management and entrepreneurship students for close to eight years.
