Agriculture issues at the UN climate talks pushed to next year

The decision of whether or not the agriculture sector gets adaptation funds will have to wait another year.  Calls for agricultural support amid climate change effects have been a contentious issue at the UN climate talks as the sector is seen as both a victim and a cause of climate change. While poorer countries have lobbied to get money to improve technology to help farmers adapt their crops better to flood and drought, developed countries have been reluctant to provide adaptation funds. Due to these differing views, negotiators have been unable to come to a consensus on the issue of agricultural support in the climate treaty being negotiated at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
