Intelligence Researcher / Writer (SG / MY / PH / HK)

Eco-Business is looking for a motivated and thoughtful individual to join our growing team within Eco-Business’s ESG Intelligence division as a Researcher / Writer.

This role is suited for someone with at least 2 years of relevant experience in research, analysis, or policy/content development, and who is keen to deepen their expertise in sustainability, ESG trends, and regional market developments across Asia Pacific.

The successful candidate will support the development of research reports, analytical briefs, thought leadership publications, and client-facing knowledge products, contributing to projects spanning sustainable finance, corporate sustainability strategy, climate transition topics, and regional policy developments.

You will join our regional team supporting projects across Asia Pacific and must be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality written outputs under tight timelines.

Key responsibilities include

  • Supporting the Eco-Business ESG Intelligence unit in Asia Pacific through research, analysis and structured writing for client and public-facing projects
  • Contributing to major research reports, policy briefs, market landscape studies, and thought leadership publications
  • Supporting delivery of research components of advisory and engagement projects across Southeast Asia and the wider region
  • Conducting literature reviews, stakeholder mapping, interviews, and desk-based research across ESG-related themes
  • Translating complex sustainability developments into clear, structured and accessible insights for business and policy audiences
  • Supporting the preparation of presentations, briefing notes, and background papers for senior stakeholders and clients
  • Working closely with the Eco-Business editorial team on content development linked to research-driven client projects
  • Supporting the wider team in additional aspects of project delivery where required
  • Some occasional travel may be required

Required experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in research, policy analysis, sustainability, journalism, consulting research support, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to research publications, analytical reports, or structured written outputs
  • Ability to synthesise complex information clearly and accurately for professional audiences
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Strong English writing and speaking abilities 
  • Highly resourceful in building knowledge quickly across new sustainability topics
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage timelines across multiple projects
  • A strong team player who can also work independently
  • A university degree in Science/Engineering, Humanities, Law, Economics, Business, Finance, Communication Studies, or another relevant discipline

The following experience and talents would be very useful

  • Knowledge of sustainable development and ESG trends in Asia Pacific 
  • Familiarity with sustainability disclosure frameworks (e.g. ISSB, GRI, TCFD, TNFD, or similar)
  • Experience supporting stakeholder interviews or multi-country research projects
  • Ability to translate technical material into business-relevant insights
  • Asian languages other than English
  • Experience supporting events, roundtables, or research-linked convenings

This role is based in either Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, or Singapore. Candidates should ideally have a residence permit for the said locations. All shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a written assignment and presentation as part of the recruitment process.
