Can REDD+ protect forests and deliver justice for the Indigenous Iraya Mangyan?
The Mindoro Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Programme combines Indigenous forest patrols, ancestral-domain support, carbon monitoring and livelihood projects to protect more than 40,000 hectares (nearly 99,000 acres) of Iraya Mangyan forest.
The climate standards body says the consultation gives Southeast Asian firms — key players in global agricultural and land-use supply chains — a chance to help shape the second version of its Forest, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) Standard to guide companies in setting science-based targets for land-based emissions and removals.
