Priyank Pravin Patel

Priyank Pravin Patel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Presidency University, Kolkata. His teaching and research focus primarily on physical geography, particularly geotectonics and geomorphology.

His main research interests centre on rivers, including their behaviour, spatial and temporal changes across river basins, and water resource management. He also explores traditional and modern approaches to landscape analysis, mapping and representation, with particular attention to land-use and land-cover change. More recently, his work has expanded to examine the built environment and how societies occupy and use space in both rural and urban areas.

Patel is also a strong advocate of field-based learning, viewing geography as a discipline best explored beyond the traditional classroom through direct observation, fieldwork and discovery.
