Make The Change to organise ‘Design for Good’ competition

On the 20th March 2015, a Singapore based social enterprise Make The Change will be organising a Design For Good Talk that will serve as the launch for the inaugural design themed competition that aims to show students that, through creativity and great design, they have the power to influence positively and change the world.

During the talk a social entrepreneur, a social project and a designer will share how design can help community and make the world a better place.

The Design For Good competition, an initiative by Make The Change hopes to ignite the passions of Singapore youths towards solving social issues by allowing them to contribute their creativity to designing campaigns to solve social problems.

Supported by M.A.D. School and having DesignSingapore Council as an event partner, the Design For Good (DFG) competition has been created, in line with the Singapore Design week, to raise more awareness among youths in Singapore about the social issues present in today’s world. DFG is also the first ever competition for youths in Singapore that is focusing on doing good using their creative skills.

Through the DFG competition, the organizers will want to show the youths that, regardless of their age, they have the ability to make an impact in this world that they are living in.

The competition is opened to all students who are currently studying in local secondary schools, international schools, ITEs and Polytechnics, and will be divided into 2 main categories. Category A is for secondary school and international school; Category B is opened to ITEs and local polytechnics.

The competition circles around using creativity (posters, social media, video etc.) to create awareness for a particular social issue in Singapore and the winning entries will be awarded and executed in real life.
