The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) today announced the launch of the publication Investment Policy: Process & Practice: Asset Owner’s Guide to Complete ESG Incorporation, which provides concrete, step-by-step guidance on how asset owners should be integrating ESG.
The new guide is aimed at assist asset owners—public and corporate pension funds, superannuation funds, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, family wealth offices—in revising their investment policy and incorporate all long-term factors, including ESG considerations.
The publication focuses on three core areas for implementing responsible investment:
- Explaining why individual asset owners should take action, and how their actions can reinforce and amplify the actions of others.
- Describing how asset owners can give real substance and effect to their responsible investment commitments, mapping the process of investment policy formulation and development as well as the core items linking contemporary systemic developments to mainstream investment policy;
- Presenting examples from asset owners, offering reflections on their processes, the lessons they have learned and the value that they have achieved through responsible investing.
“We feel this guide answers the key questions about how asset owners can integrate ESG into the investment policy,” said Don Gerritsen, senior manager, asset owner insight.
