WWF-Singapore has announced that chief executive Vivek Kumar will step down from his role with effect from 31 January 2026.

Kumar has worked for the conservation organisation for four years, the last two as CEO.

He will continue to support WWF-Singapore in an advisory capacity from February while the group searches for a successor. In the interim, WWF-Singapore chairman Hsieh Fu Hua will work with senior management team to run the organisation, it said in a statement.

Kumar said in a post on LinkedIn that he is moving into a new role in youth empowerment without disclosing his new employer.

WWF-Singapore said that during his tenure, Kumar sharpened the group’s strategic priorities and deepened partnerships to deliver greater conservation impact, including advancing its work in carbon finance.

His departure comes some months after WWF retrenched a number of senior staff from its international operation, which is hubbed in four jurisdictions including Singapore, which is a fundraising centre for the region.

Kumar was appointed CEO in 2023 after two years as WWF’s head of marketing and fundraising, succeeding R. Raghunathan.

Over his career, Kumar has worked for the National Trades Union Congress, Singapore’s trade union confederation, and was earlier with oil and gas company Shell as its head of retail marketing, based in Kuala Lumpur.
