Small solar farms to address electricity shortage in Myanmmar

Small renewable solar farms will soon energize rural communities in Myanmmar as SPCG, a solar farm developer, plans to operate solar farms and energy plants with a capacity of less than 2 megawatts.

Each small plants will cost 7-14 million baht. Officials said that this is another way to, with its present electricity production of only 2,500 MW for a population of 55 million.

Myanmar lacks small solar plants to serve rural communities. Investors from large economies such as China, India and Japan are keen to develop big projects.
