Eco-Business is looking for an experienced and competent journalist to join our editorial team and produce daily content on the latest sustainable development trends and news in Asia Pacific. We are looking for suitable candidates who will be based at our Singapore headquarter, covering business and policy news with a regional focus.

 

The full-time role requires solid newsroom experience and impeccable English writing and speaking skills. Candidates who can demonstrate a strong technical grasp of energy and finance issues in the region as well as editorial project management skills will be prioritised. Candidates with related experience and have a proven track record in covering business and/or policy news will also be considered. You will work with a wide range of partners from public, private and multilateral organisations across the world.

 

You must have an excellent news sense and work ethic, be disciplined and work to tight deadlines, be a team player, and possess a keen interest in sustainable development and how it relates to the business world. Photography, design skills and/or the ability to produce content across multimedia formats will be considered favourably.

 

The role

You will report to the editorial team and collaborate closely with the wider editorial and EB Studio teams producing branded content. This role requires a strong understanding of sustainable development-related trends, regulations, and policies, as well as the ability to cultivate key sources across industries. You should be able to translate complex topics into clear, engaging stories for Eco-Business readers.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Gather news, conduct interviews, and contribute to editorial content planning, including pitching and developing timely news and feature stories for Eco-Business’s audience.
  • Produce and file assigned stories across multiple formats, leveraging AI-enabled content tools in line with editorial policies and standards.
  • Write and produce content across platforms on sustainable development issues and trends in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on content production for thought leadership initiatives where required.
  • Develop in-depth, insightful, and high-impact investigative stories.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of sources across relevant industries.
  • Manage social media for your stories, including publishing and moderating comments.
  • Source and republish opinion pieces, manage content partnerships, and assess incoming editorial pitches for the Opinions section, including editing where necessary.
  • Provide editorial support for projects and events across team projects in the region, including writing press releases, marketing copy, event reports, newsletters, and proofreading materials.
  • Travel occasionally, as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in sustainable development issues
  • A university degree in Journalism, Communications, Environmental Studies or any other relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years of journalism experience in an established media outlet, or a strong freelance portfolio with reputable publications. Candidates with a strong portfolio of work on business and sustainable development coverage and/or analysis will be prioritised.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing original, high-quality stories, with the ability to promote content effectively across digital platforms.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex topics into engaging and accessible content.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of journalism ethics and editorial values.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Proficiency in an additional Asian language a plus.
  • Familiarity with multimedia tools (e.g. photography, videography), and working knowledge of tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, and social media or project management platforms is a plus.
  • Good understanding of the Eco-Business brand and editorial principles.
