Hannah Alcoseba Fernandez

Chief correspondent, Philippines

Based in the Philippine capital of Manila, Hannah is drawn to stories where climate issues intersect with communities, finance, justice, and everyday life.

She lead a report on the equitable transition in mining, which became a finalist at the 2023 Society of Publishers in Asia. She wrote a piece on electric vehicles, recognised as a finalist in the 2022 One World Media UK awards.

In 2024, she participated in the Oxford Climate Journalism Network, a six-month training programme for journalists around the world covering climate change, run by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford. The year after, she attended COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan where she reported on negotiations centering on climate finance and climate justice among developed and developing nations.

Prior to Eco-Business, she was managing global teams in the financial services side of Thomson Reuters Manila. She was a television broadcaster and business reporter in Manila, as well as a contributor to the Barcelona Metropolitan magazine when she lived in Spain.

Above all else, she is most proud of being a wife and mother – the reasons why she continuously work towards a more sustainable world.
