Masers Energy Malaysia signs on Silver Spring Networks for US$30bil project

Masers Energy Malaysia had on Friday inked a master agreement with its second partner for the US$30bil National Smart Grid Nation project.

Silver Spring Networks will be a coordination partner for all smart infrastructure aspects of the Masers Energy Smart Grid City Melaka and Green Special Economic Zone Melaka projects in Malaysia. The project will be implemented over 10 years.

Masers Energy Malaysia is a unit of the US-based energy group Masers Energy Inc. The project, to be rolled out nationwide, begins in Alor Gajah, Malacca.

Planning is underway and the installation of Silver Spring’s IPv6 networking platform for the initial smart energy metering, distribution automation and smart grid consumer empowerment in Malacca is expected to begin later this year.
