Open Learning Forum: Taking action on climate change resilience and adaptation in cities based on risk and vulnerability

Cities are uniquely placed to lead the way on climate change resilience and adaptation. They are on the frontlines of climate change, already dealing with hazards from floods to heatwaves. Recognising the need for cities to build resilience to these hazards, particularly in Asia where many cities are particularly vulnerable, CDP is conducting a capacity building programme supported by the Bank of America Foundation for local authorities to increase their understanding of climate risks and vulnerability at the city-level.

Following a three-part workshop series with a targeted group of cities in Asia, CDP is pleased to extend an open invite for our Open Learning Forum, focusing on the significance of CRVAs as part of wider city climate adaptation and resilience planning, action and financing. All city, NGO, private sector, civil society and other interested representatives across Asia are welcome to join.

Date: 30 November 2021 (Tuesday)

Time: 13:00-15:30 IST / 14:30-17:00 WIB / 15:30-18:00 HKT

Platform: Zoom

This Open Learning Forum will:

• Enable a wider audience of cities and other stakeholders to learn about city-level Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessments (CRVAs) and their importance, and the experience of cities in conducting them;

• Introduce next steps for cities after conducting a CRVA, including adaptation planning, data management, embedding climate action into policy and governance, and opportunities for financing climate action.

Speakers include representatives from cities, C40, Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM), and CDP.
