As a sourcing manager for Colombian carbon projects you will identify, negotiate and contract new emission reduction projects for the Colombian carbon market. You will be in active communication with the Head of Colombian projects sourcing and the Head of Colombian Carbon Tax Projects. In addition, you will ensure that projects are sourced, implemented and delivered as agreed upon and with the highest quality standards. You will also oversee the quality check of all deliverables and assessments carried out by the project team, both in the initial screening and implementation phases. Close interaction with the project owners and the Key Account Management and Marketing teams is an essential component of this role

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Implement the Coltax project sourcing activities leading to the signature of ERPAs with sufficiently sized land use projects, REDD+ projects, renewable energy and methane avoidance projects in Colombia
  • Understand market trends, gather market intelligence and identify industry trends
  • Represent South Pole in different forums on the topic of environmental markets, emission reductions and emission trading in the Colombian context
  • In coordination with the Head of Colombian projects sourcing, support the Key Account Management, Global sourcing, Project teams with tenders and proposal preparation as well as the Marketing team for project info requests
  • Budget control and resource management. Managing the budgets of all tasks and activities

Your profile

  • University degree in marketing, economics, engineering, forestry or natural resource management, environmental sciences/management/economics, geoecology, sustainability or climate change and carbon mitigation related fields. A Master’s degree will be considered a plus
  • At least 3 years’ work experience in sales, key account management, marketing or business development
  • Commercial skills and good business sense, to be able to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment
  • Understanding of climate mitigation opportunities in the Colombia context (REDD+, forest management, renewable energy, energy efficiency, wetland and forest restoration, smallholder or community forestry and agroforestry) and strong business development sense
  • Ability to work closely with management on the given targets and able to contribute to the sourcing team goals and milestones to meet the overall targets
  • Represent the company in commercial or regulatory meetings concerning technical matters
  • Native or fluent Spanish, other languages such as English, Emberá, or Portuguese are a plus
  • Strong network of potential clients, collaborators or other relevant stakeholders
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiative
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
