In this role you will be managing and implementing public advisory engagements related to carbon pricing and climate policy from sourcing to implementation. Clients you will work with include multilateral development banks, research networks and international development organisations. In addition, you will contribute to South Pole’s strategy on the just transition of the energy workforce. This challenging position requires an enthusiastic and dynamic professional with relevant experience in research and policy analysis. If you have proven research expertise in the transition of the workforce, and carbon pricing, as well as in-depth know-how in international climate policy and/or green industrial policy, then we are looking for you! Tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead research advisory engagements related to carbon pricing and climate policy, including:
    • Design, plan and implement proposals
    • Lead the technical implementation of research advisory projects
    • Create and oversee the research network for advisory projects
    • Manage project teams for specific advisory projects, including SP consultants in all six continents and external partners, ensuring high quality outputs and cost efficiency
  • Serve as a knowledge expert for the company in the fields of carbon pricing, energy workforce transition, climate policy and green industrial policy
  • Maintain an excellent relationship with public advisory clients and strategic research institutes
  • Acquire new research partners and develop new strategic partnerships
  • Contribute to the company’s carbon pricing and climate policy advisory practice

Your profile

  • Minimum a Master’s degree, and ideally a Postgraduate degree, in Environmental Sciences, Climate Policy, Economics or related disciplines
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant work experience in research advisory and research consultancy
  • Proven expertise in carbon pricing, just transition of the energy workforce, and green industrial policy
  • Track record in researching and advising on climate change mitigation projects, programs or instruments across sectors and technologies would be an asset
  • Experience in team management and ability to work autonomously, ideally within an international and multicultural context
  • Established network with climate/environmental research networks, development agencies, governments and other public or private stakeholders
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential
  • Excellent oral and written command of English. Proficiency in other languages will be considered an advantage
