As part of the Corporate Risks and Opportunities team within the Advisory & Data Unit, you will focus on the delivery of high quality consultancy advice on climate change mitigation solutions to the corporate sector, and be responsible for the management of project teams. You will also lead the development of proposals and participate in business development activities and new service creation mainly in Australia but also worldwide. You are responsible for the quality and the commercial viability of the engagements and which helps South Pole to strengthen our position as one of the leading provider of sustainability solutions. You will also be responsible for the direct line management of a small team based in the Asia Pacific region.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, management and execution of consulting mandates to ensure the most efficient and highest quality implementation
  • Provide supervision, guidance and technical leadership in international sustainability consulting mandates
  • Collaborate with the Key Account Management team in the execution of business development for the corporate sector clients
  • Interact with and build relationships with clients and contribute to the successful winning and delivery of corporate consulting mandates
  • Collaborate with senior consulting staff and the Key Account Management team to further develop thought leadership, services and marketing materials, to further develop our corporate offerings
  • Lead and directly manage small consultant teams
  • Participate in business strategy and leadership relevant internal discussions
  • Topics of consulting mandates may include: Corporate climate strategies, GHG accounting and disclosure, NCOS certification, climate change mitigation, Science Based Targets (SBTs), risk assessment and TCFD, materiality assessment, energy efficiency, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), Sustainable Development Goals and renewable energy strategy

Your profile

  • A university degree, ideally in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Energy Engineering, Economics or sustainability-related disciplines
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the corporate sector of which at least partly in corporate consulting
  • Sound understanding of environmental sustainability challenges in multinational companies
  • Specific consultancy experience in:
    • sustainability and corporate risks
    • consultancy for corporate clients, particularly in topics related to GHG accounting, life cycle assessments, reduction, mitigation and disclosure, energy efficiency and renewable energy strategy
    • developing corporate climate change strategies
    • Australian National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS) certification
  • Experienced project manager in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geographies/international context
  • Commercial skills and good business sense to be able to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment
  • Leadership and strategic management experience is of advantage
  • Practical experience in sustainability strategy, GHG management, adaptation, change management is desirable
  • Proven knowledge and network in the relevant fields
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English
  • National/valid permit holder to work in Australia
