As part of the Consultancy team, you will be a key player in growing South Pole’s advisory work on Climate Policy and Climate Finance in Southeast Asia. You will focus on the successful and efficient implementation of our projects for our Thai and international clients in the sustainability field. As a Senior Consultant, you will lead the development of proposals and participate in business development activities for South Pole. You will work independently and execute tasks related to the development and delivery of accurate, timely and high quality products and services. In addition, you will work on multiple projects, interact with all levels of staff and participate in client/partner meetings and communications.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Planning, coordination and management of consultancy mandates for public sector clients related to Climate Policy and Climate Finance topics
  • Delivering high-quality proposals, consultancy reports and other deliverables (e.g. presentations, blogs, workshop materials) in English
  • Where required, provide technical leadership in the implementation of advisory projects and technical reviews of projects managed by other colleagues
  • Design of project work plans, schedules, budgets and delivery of financial and technical status reports
  • Financial and administrative oversight of advisory mandates
  • Leading assignment-specific, international teams composed of internal and external experts and organisations
  • Liaise with clients on specific consultancy mandates
  • Supporting the acquisition of new mandates through networking with local and international stakeholders in Thailand and the region, as well as the preparation of proposals
  • Participation in client facing events and meetings, speak about relevant topics and represent South Pole and its services (in English and in Thai)
  • Development of concept and methodologies for new consulting opportunities within the topic of Climate Policy and Climate Finance
  • Support the development of South Pole’s strategy and service offering in the field of Climate Policy and Finance Advisory

Your profile

  • Minimum a Masters degree in Public Policy, Finance, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline
  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience, ideally with consultancy within the public sector in the area of climate change and sustainable development
  • Sound understanding of Climate Policy and Green/Climate Finance both nationally and internationally
  • Awareness of current national and international policy developments with regard to climate change and sustainable development
  • Proven network with government, development finance institutions, development agencies and other public or private donors/stakeholders, particularly in Thailand and ideally in Southeast Asia
  • Excellent oral and written command of English and Thai are a must; other international languages are of advantage
  • Commercial skills and good business sense to be able to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment
  • Extensive coordination, project management, proposal writing and presentation skills
  • Diligent, reliable and independent approach to work and ability to act as a team leader in a multicultural environment
  • Experience in working with and implementing activities with large multilateral funding/granting mechanisms/platforms are of advantage
