Market engagement manager


PEFC International is the world’s largest forest certification system. Our credible standards seek to transform the way forests are managed globally – and locally - to ensure all can enjoy the environmental, social and economic benefits that forests offer. It is a global alliance of national forest certification systems, founded by small and family forest owners to demonstrate excellence in sustainable forest management. 


The Market Engagement Manager (MEM) will be responsible for growing awareness of and demand for PEFC forest certification and certified pulp, paper and fibre-based packaging (PPP) and man-made cellulosic fibres (viscose), in Indonesia. The MEM is responsible for the marketing outreach strategy to the private sector – end-users and their supply chain with clear development KPIs. The MEM needs to be a product, customer, and market expert, who will translate the technical details into benefits that customers will comprehend.

The MEM will report to PEFC International and to the Indonesian Forest Certification Council (IFCC) and will work with other PEFC International Stakeholder members in Indonesia.



  • Develop the marketing and outreach strategy required to raise awareness, visibility, acceptance of, and demand for certified pulp, paper and fibre-based packaging (PPP) and man-made cellulosic fibres viscose.
  • Develop a go-to-market strategy, and create demand for PEFC certification and PEFC certified products in Indonesia.

Outreach and partnership:

  • Build and nurture loyal, strong relationships with key corporate companies and business associations, local and international
  • Prospect and engage new companies to include the PEFC brand in their PPP and viscose procurement policies
  • Facilitate companies who are interested in using the PEFC logo on their products, to develop a chain of custody (COC) system and obtain COC certification, and also link them with PEFC certified raw materials for their products
  • Assist in the preparation of high-level advocacy meetings at both national and international level
  • Attend and speak at selected conferences and trade shows to promote our brand, keep informed of market insights and network
  • Regular national travel and possibility of one oversea travel

Market Intelligence and analysis:

  • Research and analyse market data by sector, producing succinct reports
  • Identify events (e.g., trade shows and conferences) of interest and develop a sector-based event calendar
  • Develop and manage CRM: contacts, procurement policy status, certification logo use, and key influencers

Applicant profile:

1. Education

  • Educated to degree level
  • Native Bahasa and fluent English speaker
  • A recognised sales, business development, communications or marketing qualification

2. Previous Experience

  • 8-years +, Key account management or product marketing role, preferably in PPP or viscose sector or packaging procurement role for an FMCG.
  • Understanding of current sustainability issues
  • Experience of working in an international environment
  • Experienced social media communicator (Twitter and LinkedIn)
  • Confident public speaker
  • Proven market research and training skills

3. Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Confident self-starter, especially as working remotely from the main office
  • Experience in working as part of a small, multinational, multi-disciplinary team
  • Outgoing and assertive, talking to everyone from executives to potential buyers. Having the ability to sell them on strategies, partnerships, and proposals of all sorts will be crucial.
  • Highly effective project management skills, multitasker and able to prioritise
  • Advanced administrative and MS Office skills
  • SEO (search engine optimisation) and marketing fluency
  • Creative problem solver
  • Business acumen, an in-depth understanding of marketing and product development functions along with financial and revenue knowledge

Location: Home-based, Indonesia

Start date: July 2022. Initial employment contract for 2 years
