Lead Trainer, ESG Intelligence (Singapore)

The role

Eco-Business’s ESG Intelligence division has been providing training, research, as well as consulting and advisory services to corporate, governmental and NGOs as part of our mission to be Asia Pacific’s leading voice on sustainable development.

You will help to lead the unit’s training, learning and development activities, in particular skills development and capacity building across a wide range of ESG and sustainable development issues for our partner organisations and for individuals. Reporting to the Head of ESG Intelligence, you will lead in the delivery of our training programmes, as well as in the shaping our curriculum and thought leadership on climate change, ESG and sustainable development issues.

You should have a strong track record and established experience in consulting and or training capabilities, and possess deep knowledge of ESG issues, keen interest in sustainable development and how it relates to our business and policy global audience. 

You will join our headquarters in Singapore and support our projects across the globe. You must be able to operate independently to deliver high quality work.

Examples of our existing training programmes:

  • ESG/Sustainability frameworks and guidelines
  • The role of finance in climate change, including TCFD reporting
  • Understanding and applying materiality in reporting
  • Fundamentals of responsible investing
  • Climate risk and an overview of the carbon markets
  • The role of the Board in climate reporting
  • The collective role of individuals in climate action
  • ESG trends in Asia

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead in the preparation and delivery of training programmes as part of Eco-Business’s ESG Intelligence mandate
  • Give inputs on how to enhance and advance our training material such that it is current, relevant and fit for purpose
  • Conceptualise new curriculum that keeps abreast with key ESG developments, incorporating relevant Asian case studies and examples
  • Serve as an advisor and mentor to the organisations and individuals who rely on our training as the valuable opportunities to understand, adopt and advocate for sustainable practices within their organisations and beyond.
  • Support the ESG Intelligence, EB Studio and news teams in identifying key trends, thought leadership, and industry-related content
  • Coach junior team members and external consultants where required
  • Support Partnerships where required in shaping proposals, and other business development matters

Required experience (to be discussed in detail at interview):

  • Proven track record in consulting and/or training, with at least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in areas of sustainability, ethics and compliance or finance/investment
  • A university degree in Humanities, Science, Economics, Business, Finance, Communication Studies, or any other relevant field.
  • Excellent English writing and speaking abilities
  • An understanding of the issues interwoven within environment, society and business in Asia Pacific
  • Highly resourceful in building up knowledge and key insights
  • Structured in your thought process and articulation of concepts
  • Meticulous, with a keen eye on detail and timelines
  • Skilled in project management with an ability to deliver high quality work A strong team player who is able to work well within a team, as well as independently 

The following would be very useful:

  • Experience in business development
  • Ability to network and build contacts
  • Asian languages other than English
  • Experience in events (workshops, roundtables, conferences etc.)

You should ideally be based in Singapore with a residence permit. Highly exceptional candidates may still be considered if you do not possess a Permanent Residence or Singapore citizenship. All shortlisted applicants will be required to do a writing and presentation test.
