We are seeking a dedicated and resourceful German-speaking Junior Marketing and Events Specialist to complete our Marketing team! Working closely with our Marketing Partners and the Head of Communications, you will focus on global events and be responsible for the DACH region markets. Events are a cornerstone of the South Pole marketing and client activation strategy and, within the framework of a well-established events process, you will assume an essential role in increasing South Pole’s visibility to key stakeholders and its target audience via a series of high-profile events across geographies and business lines. This hinges on securing crucial speaking opportunities and landmark sponsorships with leading event organisers. In addition, you support our DACH communications strategy and German-speaking clients in communicating climate action to their stakeholders.This is an entry-level position requiring an enthusiastic and dynamic professional. Tasks and responsibilities

Event Management (60%)

  • Support the implementation of South Pole’s defined event strategy, approach and presence
  • Negotiate sponsorship agreements
  • Working with the South Pole subject matter experts, secure speaking opportunities for South Pole speakers at identified events
  • Support the preparation of content-based and visual materials to enhance South Pole’s participation at conferences and events
  • Pre- and post-event communication to all relevant stakeholders, including support for mailings and website content management
  • Nurturing and maintaining our partner network to strengthen the quality and the appeal of events by engaging diverse stakeholders and experts
  • Assist with local event organisation (as on-site registration or A&V; support among others)

Marketing & Communications (40%)

  • Maintenance and development of German language section of the corporate website
  • Produce company, project and product material in German
  • Support the production and distribution of German language news articles and media releases
  • Media relations in German
  • Support Key Account Managers with proposals, tenders and client support (focus on German)
  • Ongoing client Marketing support (focus on German)
  • Proofreading of German language content and reports

Your profile

  • University degree in Marketing, Communications or equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant working experience in Journalism, PR, Communications or similar
  • Native German speaker and excellent oral and written skills in English
  • Experience with planning and organisation of events is a must
  • Versatile storyteller with excellent copywriting skills
  • Understanding of web-based content management systems, e.g. WordPress or Drupal, and social media best practices
  • Outstanding organisation, planning and time management skills
  • Precise attention to detail
  • A self-starter who can work independently but also as part of an interdisciplinary, globally dispersed team
  • Passion for environmental issues and understanding of sustainability, CSR and related topics
  • Eagerness to grow and learn in an evolving environment
  • National, or holder of a valid required work visa
