GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL & GOVERNANCE (ESG) LEAD

SUMMARY OF ROLE

In Maxeon Solar Technologies’ first year of independent operations, it launched its inaugural sustainability strategy, programme and roadmap. Key highlights included joining the United Nations Global Compact, commitment to the SDGs and issuing its first Sustainability Report and Green Finance reporting. Maxeon is now well positioned to make further enhancements in pursuit of being a global leader in sustainability in the solar and renewable energy space. The Global ESG Lead will report to the Deputy Head of Compliance, Senior Legal Counsel and will be placed within the Legal Department and working with the Chief Legal Officer as the executive sponsor.

The Global ESG Lead will be responsible for strategic leadership of Maxeon’s sustainability programme to create impact within the community and environment while managing the company’s ESG risks and leveraging opportunities. These include representing Maxeon’s ESG activities both internally and its external stakeholders, driving annual sustainability strategic roadmap and reporting, lead product related sustainability certifications/testing , managing sustainability policies and related supplier compliance and due diligence, managing strategic community partnerships and sustainability communications. The Global ESG Lead will have the support of leading consultancies and on the ground support through the local Focal Points at each manufacturing location in Mexico, France, Malaysia, Philippines and China.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

Prepare annual sustainability reports on progress to UN SDGs and per the GRI and SASB reporting methodology, SGX voluntary disclosures as well as align to evolving international standards and practices where relevant

  • Develop and execute corporate sustainability initiatives, materiality assessment review and strategies for Maxeon
  • Lead Maxeon’s process of establishing long term goals across all of the 14 material topics
    • Lead 3rd party engagements where necessary to gain external subject matter expertise on the process
  • Engages with internal stakeholders and presenting regular sustainability updates and conduct sustainability assessments
  • Develops a comprehensive annual sustainability plan in collaboration with representatives of different functional areas and business units covering energy use, waste reduction, carbon footprint, employee involvement and communications, and external leadership
  • Manage annual Conflict Minerals Due Diligence and Reporting and review of all Maxeon ESG Policies
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners; identify, vet, and negotiate deals with vendors and partners to provide services and partnerships in furtherance of Maxeon’s community goals
  • Support communication strategies to publicise and promote broad awareness of sustainability initiatives to key external stakeholders such as but not limited to customers, suppliers, investors, government, industry associations and the community

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree graduate with minimum of 5-years of managerial level experience in corporate sustainability in global/regional organisations
  • Knowledge and experience in global sustainability standards and frameworks: such as UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Double Materiality Assessment, Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTI), TaskForce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and others
  • Comfortable with data collection and analysis as well as detailed knowledge of the reporting requirements and carbon accounting
  • Excellent leadership skills, programme management, communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence decision makers and stakeholders in a cross-functional, matrixed organisation
  • Entrepreneurial, curious, and scrappy self-starter with exceptional strategic and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, and sometimes unstructured environment
  • Desire to push the envelope in creating impact and value for the organisation

Preferred requirements

  • Advanced degree in sustainable management, energy and resources, business, law, engineering, or a related field
  • Strategic and operational track record in managing a holistic and robust ESG programme
  • Experience creating and driving engagement opportunities that serve employees, suppliers, consumers and partners while aligning with Maxeon’s values
  • Technical knowledge of but not limited to:
    • Climate risks and action
    • Sustainable finance (green and sustainability-linked loans)
    • Anti-slavery and anti-human-trafficking acts globally
    • Green manufacturing operations
    • Product and operational stewardship through ESG certifications and circular economy approach
    • Community programmes and impact measurement
