FSM serves as FSC Malaysia (or National Office, NO, https://my.fsc.org/en-my) for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC, https://www.fsc.org/en), which is an international non‐governmental, non‐profit organisation that promotes responsible forest management practices through multi‐stakeholder standard setting and an internationally‐recognised certification scheme.
As a multi‐stakeholder organisation, FSC applies the directive of its membership to develop forest management and chain of custody standards, deliver trademark assurance and provide accreditation services to a global network of committed businesses, organizations and communities. FSC certification provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption of forest products, enabling consumers and businesses to make purchasing decisions that benefit people and the environment as well as providing ongoing business value.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES of the role:
- Play an overall coordination and leadership role in the overall development, management and implementation of FSC’s initiatives in Malaysia;
- Lead in the implementation towards delivery of the Organisation’s key goals, including strategic planning for the development of FSC in Malaysia as well as contribution to national and international planning processes for both operational and programmatic purposes;
- Ensure that financial planning and management of the Organisation is conducted in a timely and prudent manner to maintain a healthy and sustainable financial status; this includes producing and maintaining monthly accounts, shared with the Chair and the Treasurer, FSC Malaysia Board of Directors; and
- Build and maintain relationships with the FSC network, FSC partner organisations around the world, key accounts, environment, social and economic stakeholders, FSC Members and others as required.
