As the world advances toward decarbonization, the steel industry, a major contributor to global carbon emissions, is under increasing pressure to adopt greener practices. With India being the second-largest steel producer globally, the urgency to embrace sustainable steel production methods has never been more critical.
This transition is essential to align with the global goals of reducing carbon footprints and promoting environmental responsibility. In response, the Indian government has unveiled a national strategy for green steel and green hydrogen, aimed at driving the low-carbon transformation of the steel sector.
The Indian Green Steel Summit 2025 (IGSS 2025) marks the 9th consecutive edition of the Green Steel-themed event, organised to foster collaboration between India’s steel industry and global leaders.
The summit will bring together industry experts from India and around the world to share their knowledge and insights on critical topics such as supportive policies, renewable energy, hydrogen technologies, carbon capture and utilisation (CCUS), sustainable steelmaking practices, and innovative solutions for the industry’s green transition. By bridging these global perspectives, IGSS 2025 will help chart the path towards a net-zero future for the Indian steel sector.
