Immense global business potential drives exhibitors to IGEM 2017

Excitement around the 8th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2017, ASEAN’s largest green technology and eco products event, continues to grow with exhibitors from Japan, Korea and China as well as regional participation from the European Union and Taiwan having recently confirmed. IGEM 2017 is currently moving faster towards its target of 320 exhibitors from over 20 countries.

Organised by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) and co-organised by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia), IGEM 2017 will be held from 11th to 13th October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

It will showcase the latest green innovations at dedicated energy, green transport, green building and green industry zones, to an international audience of over 25,000 investors, financiers and policy makers.

Speaking on the immense business potential of IGEM 2017, Group Chief Executive Officer of GreenTech Malaysia, Dr. Mohd Azman Zainul Abidin said, “In line with this year’s theme, Powering Green Cities, IGEM continues to position Malaysia as a central hub for ASEAN green businesses, teaming up with new parties to offer new content. I am confident that IGEM 2017 will once again be a strategic platform for our exhibitors to further expand green technology ventures and make in-roads into new markets.”

“We are delighted to have attracted so many world class exhibitors to this year’s event. With a stellar line up of VIP guests and trade delegations from across the world, coupled with our highly successful array of business matching programmes, IGEM 2017 is set to be the destination for ASEAN’s biggest green deals and I urge all green entrepreneurs to take up this strategic opportunity,” he added.

Currently, IGEM 2017 has confirmed participation from leading corporations such as ABB Malaysia, Atlantic Blue, Gading Kencana, Hanwha Q-Cell, Itramas Manufacturing, Malaysia Timber Certification Council, Pekat Engineering, SIRIM QAS International, Beijing Eastyida International and AL-CO Malaysia. As part of the state level pavilions, the Sabah State Government was the first to confirm their participation.

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) have also confirmed to return as partners this year to continue IGEM’s highly successful business matching programmes that have been integral in forging business partnerships recording over RM10 billion in business leads, over the last seven editions of IGEM.

Commenting on the collaboration with KeTTHA and GreenTech Malaysia for IGEM 2017, Chief Executive Officer of EUMCCI, Roberto Benetello said, “The EUMCCI has been an ardent supporter of IGEM over the past seven years through the European Union Pavilion. The EUMCCI recognises IGEM as the opportune avenue for European companies to showcase their green products and solutions as well as to network with top government officials, ambassadors and major industry players from across ASEAN.”

“IGEM has proven to be incredibly effective for the numerous businesses that have participated through the EU pavilion. We are proud to continue our ongoing partnership with the Malaysian government to promote, support and strengthen the EU green business community in Malaysia,” he added.

Over the three-day event, exhibitors will benefit from high-level conferences, including the International Urban Sustainability Green Building Conference (IUSGBC) and the Solar Photovoltaic conference focusing on Energy, Storage and Mobility. IUSGBC offers tracks on Finance and Green Buildings as well as Health and Wellbeing in Workplaces by Malaysia Green Building Confederation (MGBC) and World Green Building Council. The Solar Photovoltaic conference organised by Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association and Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association is returning for a second year, offering solar industry players an unrivalled platform for business networking and industry dialogue.
