ABB tops Fortune magazine list of the most-admired companies for 2014

ABB, a leading power and automation technology group, has been named by Fortune magazine as the most admired company in its sector. The company moved up from sixth place in last year’s survey in the Industrial Machinery category.

Fortune’s annual rankings are derived from a survey of 15,000 senior executives and industry analysts who rate companies on nine attributes ranging from innovativeness to the ability to attract and retain talent. ABB ranked first within its sector on five of the nine attributes as well as overall.

“We are pleased to be recognized by our peers as the global leader in our industry,” says ABB CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer. “It underlines our constant commitment to strengthen our competitive position and preparing ABB for future growth that we scored high in areas such as innovation, but also product quality, and global competitiveness.”

The international Fortune survey covers 25 industry sectors.

ABB (www.abb.com) is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 150,000 people.
