New Mumbai airport plan pits environment against business

Chinchpada, July 11 - India’s government is expected to make a decision on whether to give the go-ahead for the 90-billion-rupee (US$1.9 billion) international airport located in India’s mangrove areas, after a battle between developers and opponents lasting more than a decade.

Global aviation sector to halve emissions by 2050

Copenhagen, December 8 - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has brought the aviation industry’s environmental goals to Copenhagen. Industry players are calling for a global approach to reducing aviation emissions and are united in a commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 50% compared to 2005 levels by 2050.
