Mad dash for solar PV installations in Australia

Australian households are now rushing to put up their solar power installation following an announcement by the government last week that it will be phasing out a solar panel subsidy scheme six months earlier. According to the new changes, if a contract to purchase a solar power system was entered into on Friday or after, they must be installed before January 1, 2013 to be subsidised under the scheme. The Sustainable Energy Association of Australia (SEA) said the government’s move was untimely and unnecessary. The Clean Energy Council also pointed out that the flip-flopping  on policies by the Australian government will discourage investors in the sector.
