In this role you will be working in our Projects and Portfolio Management team, responsible for overseeing the generation of carbon credits and renewable energy certificates both for the voluntary and compliance markets. You will work with different colleagues around the world to cover a wide range of markets and coordinate the supply side of South Pole Group’s (SPG) global portfolio.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning of upcoming verifications and issuances and manage upcoming deliveries (fulfillment of deals)
  • Collaborate with the international Projects and Portfolio Management team as well as the Sales team to optimise and manage existing large deals and structure new ones
  • Serve as a partner to local project team heads on contractual and technical issues
  • Introduce SPG’s services to potential clients and source new projects together with our international team
  • Understand client needs, gather market intelligence and identify industry trends
  • Draft framework agreements for the acquisition of new emission reduction projects
  • Serve as an emission reduction projects expert in client meetings or calls and exhibitions and other corporate events
  • Be in charge of the coordination of the Projects and Portfolio Management team and take responsibility for the quality of its work

Your profile

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Environmental Science or similar
  • 4-6 years of commercial experience in an origination, brokerage or trading role in carbon markets and/or experience in development of emission reduction projects globally
  • Strong track record in generating new business opportunities, closing deals and meeting customer needs
  • Excellent understanding of carbon standards, regulating bodies and project cycle
  • Previous experience in team management, ideally on an international level
  • Excellent written and oral command of English; German, French and/or Spanish is considered a strong plus
  • Instill pride in quality and a patience to look into very subtle details
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a larger team
  • Excellent communication skills, also cross-cultures
  • Willingness to travel to other countries and continents (min.10%)
