German software company SAP has appointed a head of sustainability for the Asia Pacific region.

Susanna Hasenoehrl takes on the newly created role, with a mandate to help customers use SAP’s sustainability solutions to meet environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets and regulatory requirements.

Her role also involves running SAP’s sustainability programmes. She will also be responsible for driving sustainability outcomes across the company’s go-to-market efforts.

SAP solutions include corporate sustainability performance management and reporting, carbon accounting, waste management, and responsible supply chains.

Hasenoehrl joins the company after a stint as an independent consultant, advising on sustainable business and climate change. Previously, she held a sustainability role at agricultural and chemicals firm Yara International, and was an advisor to the leadership team at Grobrix, an agritech company.

Paul Marriott, president of SAP Asia Pacific and Japan, said in a statement that the new role will help the company strengthen its sustainability offering in the region.

“With Asia accounting for more than 70 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, it’s critical we focus on helping customers, partners, and governments urgently develop solutions to address climate challenge,” he said.
