The Smart Water Global Survey by SENSUS stated that “8.5 billion gallons of water are lost annually in water networks around the world. More than 20% of the clean water that is pumped into the distribution system is lost before reaching the end consumers, which leads to $10B in wasted opex. Leakage is an industry and global-wide issue.”
Water Loss Asia 2014, the 4th edition with the theme ‘Intelligent NRW Management for Smart Cities’ will examine and address these issues. Organized by PROTEMP, the event encompasses an Exhibition and a Conference with workshops; targeted at worldwide participants and exhibitors.
Intelligent NRW management is achieved through the integration of information and innovation; leak detection being just one of its many solutions. The challenge for the utilities is to link the systems together for ‘real-time leak management’. The event aims to bring together the water industry experts to share and showcase their latest innovations or solutions, knitting together the many pieces of the puzzle in NRW management.
In the future everything in a city, from the electric grid, to water supply and distribution to buildings and more will be connected to the network. Urban living is growing exponentially, and cities account for the bulk of the economic wealth. At WLA 2014, we will look into how to integrate Smart NRW Management that meets the needs of Smart Cities.
“Water Trenchless Technology Asia 2014” will be held concurrently. It is the science of installing, repairing or renewing underground pipes, ducts, etc. with minimum excavation and surface disruption. It is a technology that is needed for urbanized cities with high vehicle and pedestrian traffic, whilst considering the cost and environmental impact.
“Smart cities will need smart networks into which everything is hooked” states Jane Wakefield and this is what WLA 2014 aims to achieve.
Join us at WLA 2014 from 2 – 4 September 2014 at Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and learn from leading water loss experts.
