In Australia today, women’s workforce participation has never been higher, however, despite this, women remain severely underrepresented in senior management. Women make up only 26.1% of management personnel and 17.3% of CEO. Diversity at the senior level has been proven to add value to organisations, yet the majority of organisations are failing to reap the benefits. The question must be asked: what is holding women back from securing these executive roles?
In South Australia and the Northern Territory, women are advancing towards leadership positions; however there is still a considerable amount of progression that must be made for women to be equally represented in the Public Sector.
The 2nd Annual Public Sector Women in Leadership South Australia and Northern Territory Summit 2016 will provide advice for women who wish to be successful in the Public Sector. In order for women to attain a rewarding career in the public service, they must learn to put their hands up for leadership roles, develop resilience and overcome career challenges.
