Smart Island World Congress 2018

SmartIsland World Congress is the unique congress specialised on Smart Island around the world, where experts and island representatives meet to take on the challenges of managing islands in terms of efficiency, urban planning, and social and economic development in the global era.

This second edition, that will be held once again by our Official Event Host Meliá Hotels International in Mallorca on the 23rd and 24th April 2018, is expected to welcome 1,500 visitors, 100 international islands and 95 speakers after the success of the first 2017 edition. Organised by Fira Barcelona, and hosted by the City of Calvià, the General Council of Mallorca, and the Government of the Balearic Islands, Smart Island World Congress started as a spin-off of the international Smart City Expo World Congress, is supported by UN-Habitat and counts with the collaboration of Global Island Partnership and Dafni Network.

The Smart Island World Congress 2018 has a new Exhibition Area that showcases the latest innovative and advanced solutions, and it gives you the chance to be a part of the Networking Area, dedicated to sharing ideas, doing business and meeting potential partners and clients, as well as participating to the Island2Island Matchmaking Event, designed to allow you to connect with the industry leaders.

The whole event will focus on three main tracks: Islands leading the tourism industry, Talent & Economic Growth, Connectivity & Infrastructures, and Making the best of our own resources. These are chosen specifically to evolve this second edition from the sharing of experiences to the creation of alliances between all the actors involved in the island management, in order to be stronger together when tackling the issues inherent to insularity.

Smart Island World Congress is the event that will connect islands to face the global challenges. Learn more on our website or stay tuned with us on LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook.
