Today, T&D utilities in Southeast Asia region are facing serious challenges: the fundamental shortage in electricity supply, poor tariff to recover the costs, lack of IT knowledge in human resources, technical & non technical losses and finance constrain for expansion. Deploying smart grid technologies might be a key to address those issues. However, in the process of developing smart grid, SEA’ T&D sector have a long way to go given that even in the West, developed countries had met challenges and problems while rolling out smart grid.
